Darynne Dahlem, of Greenwood, Arkansas, began pursuit of her dream to become a pediatric cardiologist in 2020, attending medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). The same year she became Miss Arkansas, she graduated from the University of Arkansas Honors College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science.
During the five years Darynne competed in the Miss America Organization, she won over $100,000 in scholarships.
As Miss Arkansas 2019, Darynne won a $30,000 scholarship provided by The Ted and Shannon Skokos Foundation and the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Foundation. She also won more than $75,000 in awards, wardrobe, transportation and gifts. She represented Arkansas at the 2020 Miss America Competition and continues to serve as Miss Arkansas today.
During the 2019 Miss Arkansas Competition, Darynne brought home an additional $14,550 in scholarships for a grand total of $44,550. She won the Sarah Slocum Overall Interview Award as well as the Overall On Stage Interview Award. Darynne also won the Jessie Ward Bennett Leadership Award, the Claudia Raffo Enhance Arkansas Award, the Asher Ray Mentor Award, the Melonie Moore Overall Vocalist Award, the Online Favorite Award and one of the two Legacy Awards. During the Arrival Ceremonies it was announced that she won the Medical Professionals Marketplace Scholarship. During Preliminary Competition, Darynne won the Social Impact and Evening Wear Awards for the Sigma Group.
Darynne plans to specialize in pediatric cardiology and work at Arkansas Children’s Hospital and is grateful for the scholarships she received which are enabling her to pursue her dream.
